1. Client-server connection problem

If a client is unable to connect to the server:

* Ensure that the server is running.

* Check the port numbers on the server and on the client: They must be the same.

* Check "server name" in client settings. Server name must be the name of the computer running Labserver.

Everything is correct, but still no connection:

If there is a firewall running on client or on server, then the firewall might be blocking the connection. If this is the case, then you should open Labclient and Labserver ports on the firewall:

Labclient listens on TCP 2004 by default (must be opened on firewall).

Labserver listens on TCP 2002 by default.

No firewall is running or firewall configured accordingly, but still no connection:

If you checked "Use Ip filtering" in LabControl settings, then you can try unchecking this item.

2. Server is running on WinXP. Win98 clients are unable to connect to the server

This problem occurs on some networks as a result of the advanced security properties of WinXp/2000 operating systems.

Try accessing a shared folder on the server from the client through "network neighborhood". If you cannot access the shared folder, then this problem is related to winxp/2000 configuration.

A quick solution: Run Labserver on Win98/Me.

3. Can I increase the client-server connection speed?

LabControl client-server connection is really fast with default settings. If you want to increase "realtime" speed of LabControl, then you can tune the following settings:

Server : You can try lower "ping interval" values (5 or 3 instead of 10).

Client : Lower "ping interval" values (5 veya 3 seconds) and lower "connection timeout" values (500 or 300 milliseconds).

4. How do I uninstall Labclient?

Labclient does not include an uninstall option for security reasons. To uninstall Labclient, please follow the steps below:

Log into client as admin (by pressing CTRL+ALT+L shortcut).

Uncheck "Start with windows" item in client settings.

Save client settings.

Close Labcontrol client.

5. Is there an easy way to setup client software on a large number of computers?

Yes. Setup Labclient on a computer. Configure the client.

You can distribute the copy of the "configured" client to other computers in your lab by just copying Labclient folder to the other computers:

Copy the Labclient's program folder to another computer and run "labclient.exe" once.

6. I am using Labcontrol in demo mode for 5 computers. How can I get a license?
